This is the real thing for our family. Mom made this when we
were little and then I came up with my own, better version
that we love, love, love.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
2 cups self rising flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup Crisco
Use a fork and cut the Crisco into the mixture until it looks grainy.
Now you CAN do this next part.
Add milk a little at a time until you have a batter just a little thicker than cake batter. While you are adding the milk also add a Tablespoon of vanilla.
Now pop it into the oven and bake it until its golden brown on top.
Prepare your berries and add just enough sugar to sweeten to your taste.
This is great served warm or cool.
